Our Cytopathologists

Karim E. Sirgi, M.D. is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty board certification in Cytopathology. He is currently President of the Medical Staff at Presbyterian/Saint Luke’s Medical Center, a tertiary care facility in the heart of Denver. Dr. Sirgi is also a member of the board and vice-president of Unipath as well as Chair of the HealthOne Presidents Council and Medical Director of laboratories at The Urology Center of Colorado.

Dr. Sirgi is a diplomate of the Saint Joseph University School of Medicine, Beirut, Lebanon.  He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Booth Memorial Medical Center in New York, a fellowship in surgical pathology at Barnes Hospital, Washington University Medical Center in Saint Louis  and an additional subspecialty fellowship in general and interventional cytopathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  Dr. Sirgi was on the faculty staff at both institutions after completion of each fellowship. He was chairman of the Pathology Department at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center from 1997-2003 and president of the Colorado Society of Clinical Pathologists in 2003/2004. He is also a former member of the UniPath board of directors, of the College of American Pathologists Cytopathology Resource Committee and of the Gynecology Oncology Group pathology review committee. He was voted best pathologist in Denver by his peers in 1998, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 (5280 Magazine).

Michael G. Venrick, M.D. is board certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology and the subspecialty of Cytopathology. He is involved with UniPath’s fine needle aspiration outpatient service.

Dr. Venrick grew up in a rural farm community in Colorado. After earning his Medical Degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, he went on to complete his internship/residency program with the U.S. Army in San Francisco. He completed his fellowship in Cytopathology at George Washington University in 1991. Along with his many professional affiliations, he recently served a year as president of the Colorado Society of Clinical Pathologists. His interests include Pap test cytology, Fine Needle Aspiration, and breast pathology.

Elaine D. Wagner, M.D., is board certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology with subspecialty board in Cytopathology. She is Medical Director for Platte Valley Medical Center Laboratory and the Director of Cytopathology at Porter/Littleton/Avista Adventist Hosptials.

Dr. Wagner attended medical school and performed her residency at University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She completed her fellowship in Cytopathology at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a former member of the College of American Pathologists Cytopathology Committee.
