Dermatopathologists

Diane D. Heasley, D.O. is board certified in Dermatopathology and brings to UniPath her knowledge and experience in this subspecialty. In addition to the board certification in Dermatopathology, she has board certification in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology.

Dr. Heasley is from Michigan and obtained her degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing her internship, Dr. Heasley spent six years as a family practitioner. She began her residency program in Pathology at Grand Rapids Area Medical Education Center – Michigan State University. She then transferred to, and completed her residency program in Pathology, at Albany Medical College – Albany Medical Center Hospital. She immediately went into a fellowship program in Dermatopathology at the Albany Medical College – Albany Medical Center Hospital with Dr. Martin C. Mihn, who has been the senior dermatopathologist at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital for the past 30 years, and is world-renowned in the field of malignant melanoma. She has done research on basal cell carcinoma and published research articles on osteogenic malignant melanoma, dermatofibroma, and basal cell carcinoma. She published a book chapter on malignant melanoma.

After graduating from her fellowship program she worked as a dermatopathologist in the Department of Pathology at Albany Medical Center Hospital until January of 1997, when she moved to Denver and began working for UniPath. Since then she has devoted her time and continuing education to Dermatopathology.

Joseph Olivere , M.D. is board certified in Dermatopathology and in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Dr. Olivere joined UniPath on August 1, 2004. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, Tennessee (1990-1994). Dr. Olivere completed a clinical internship at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas (1994-1995), followed by his Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (1995-1999) in the combined Wilford Hall Medical Center (WHMC) and BAMC program in San Antonio. Dr. Olivere served as Chief of Anatomic Pathology and Medical Director of Microbiology & Outpatient Clinic Laboratories at Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas from 1999 to 2003. Dr. Olivere completed his Dermatopathology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland in June 2004. He is actively involved in the national dermatopathology community and in dermatopathology education.
