Hematopathologists

Mark Miller, M.D. We are pleased to announce that Mark E. Miller, MD will be joining the UniPath medical staff effective March 8, 2010. Dr. Miller is Board Certified in Hematology and Anatomic/Clinical Pathology, and will enhance UniPath’s Hematopathology service offering with his experience and expertise.
Dr. Miller received his medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He completed his Anatomic/Clinical Pathology Residency and Hematopathology fellowship at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. In addition to serving as Co-Chief Resident at the University of Utah and Assistant Medical Director of Hematologic Flow Cytometry at ARUP Laboratories, Dr. Miller was most recently Laboratory Director and Pathologist for Arizona’s Little Colorado Medical Center/Winslow and Flagstaff Medical Center.

Mitchell A. Bitter, M.D. is board certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology and the subspecialty of Hematopathology. He brings extensive experience in diagnostic hematopathology to the UniPath laboratory.

Dr. Bitter received his M.D. degree in 1978 from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following a residency in pathology at the University of Colorado, Dr. Bitter completed his fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Chicago. He was invited to join the faculty at the University of Chicago where he was the Assistant Director of Hematopathology. In 1989, Dr. Bitter returned to the University of Colorado as Director of Hematopathology and the Clinical Hematology Laboratory. He rose to the rank of professor and developed an active consultation service. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals in the areas of leukemia and lymphoma. He is the author of several book chapters.

Sanford D. Peck, M.D. is board certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology. He specializes in Coagulation and Hematopathology. Dr. Peck also is a fellow in the American Society of Clinical Pathology and College of American Pathologists.

Dr. Peck comes from Rochester, NY, and is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He did a rotating internship and Pathology residency at Presbyterian Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. During that time has was awarded a Clinical Fellowship through the American Cancer Society. He spent two years in the U.S. Army at Brooke Army Hospital and the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research. Since that time he has directed the Hematology and Coagulation laboratories here, and developed a sophisticated and well-staffed coagulation consultation service. He is published and has presented on this subject at numerous conferences across the U.S.
