Pediatric Pathologists

Sherrie A. Caldwell, M.D. is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Pathology. She comes to UniPath from The Children’s Hospital in Denver where she practiced for over 16 years.

Dr. Caldwell received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She stayed on to complete her residency, with her final year as Chief Resident, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Pathology at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital.

Sarah C. Mengshol, M.D. is a graduate of the Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, New Hampshire. She completed her internship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She began residency training in anatomic pathology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, and completed the residency program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Mengshol received her Fellowship training in Pediatric Pathology from The Children’s Hospital in association with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado.

Since Fellowship training, Dr. Mengshol provided instruction in Pediatric Pathology for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center at The Children’s Hospital, Department of Pathology, in Denver, Colorado. While at Dartmouth Medical School, she was elected into the Mosenthal Surgical Society and received an award in Maternal Child Health in 1999. She also worked as a research associate in Pre-doctoral Education at Dartmouth Medical School in 2000. During residency training in pathology, she received the Strategic Science Conference Travel Award: HPV Testing: Are you ready for a new era in Cervical Cancer Screening from the College of American Pathologists (2002) and most recently, she received the Excellence in Teaching Award (2004), from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Department of Pathology. Dr. Mengshol’s interests include perinatal and pediatric pathology, including pathology of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, as well as medical education.


Andrea Kathleen Sotelo, M.D. is board certified in anatomic pathology. She is currently completing a Pediatric Pathology Fellowship at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis MO. She received her medical degree from The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver in 1998. She then completed her internship (OB/Gyn), residency (anatomic pathology) and fellowship training (surgical pathology) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital affiliated with Washington University in St. Louis, MO. During that time, she participated in a number of research projects and published several journal articles. Dr. Sotelo joined UniPath in August 2004.

 

R.Weslie Tyson, M.D. is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Pediatric Pathology. He comes to UniPath from The Children's Hospital in Denver where he was Clinical Assistant Professor bringing extensive experience in the field of Placental, Perinatal and Pediatric Pathology.

Dr. Tyson received his medical degree with Honors at Colorado School of Medicine, then continued to complete his residency as Chief Resident at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. There he also completed his Fellowship in Genetics. Following this Dr. Tyson completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Anatomic Pathology at British Columbia Children's Hospital in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Dr. Tyson has received honors and awards for several research projects in which he has participated.
